Concrete Batching Plant: Key Operation & Safety Overview

2025-05-16

System Overview

A concrete batching plant consists of four main parts:

  1. Aggregate Feeding (sand, stone)

  2. Powder Feeding (cement, fly ash, additives)

  3. Water & Additive Supply

  4. Mixing, Conveying, and Storage

Efficient operation relies on proper coordination and timing between these systems.

I. Workflow Summary

  1. Power on the control system and enter the operation interface.

  2. Load mix settings (formula, grade, slump, volume).

  3. System checks material levels and prompts the operator.

  4. Start aggregate feeding via belt conveyor.

  5. Open powder silos and activate screw conveyors.

  6. Open water and additive valves.

  7. Once all materials are measured, discharge into the mixer.

  8. Mix for the set time, then unload into the truck.

⚠ Proper startup/shutdown sequence is crucial to prevent clogging and damage.

II. Key Operating Precautions

  • Inspect oil levels, belts, and valves before starting.

  • Follow correct start/stop sequence (materials → mixer → discharge).

  • Only trained operators are allowed to run the system.

  • Never stop the mixer with material inside.

  • Clear large debris promptly during operation.

  • Do not repair or lubricate while running.

III. Before Work

  • Ensure no obstructions in hoppers, tracks, or drums.

  • Check oil, brakes, limiters, and weighing system.

  • Verify all electrical and mechanical parts function properly.

  • Confirm proper wire rope installation.

IV. During Work

  • Monitor equipment closely; check motor direction.

  • Stop immediately if power fails; clean mixer before restart.

  • Stay alert and remove blockages in time.

  • Never place hands/feet near moving parts.

V. After Work

  • Shut down all systems in order and lock the control room.

  • Clean silos, screw conveyors, mixer drum, and additive system.

  • In winter, drain water to prevent freezing.

  • Lubricate and protect equipment from rust.
