Basalt Crushing Plant Project – Philippines (350–500 tph)
350–500 tph basalt crushing plant in Philippines with PE jaw crusher and single-cylinder cone crusher. Five aggregate grades for high-speed rail. EPC by Zhengzhou Sinoma.
Project Details
Project Overview
This 350–500 tph basalt crushing plant was delivered to a large aggregate producer in Luzon, Philippines. The feed is blasted basalt with lump size up to 750 mm, and the plant produces five graded aggregate sizes for high-speed rail, road base, and ready-mix concrete customers across the island.
Zhengzhou Sinoma Engineering Technology was awarded the EPC contract after the customer compared three Chinese suppliers on crushing ratio, wear-part life, and local service support. The line was handed over on July 28, 2015, and has been expanded once since.
Customer Requirements
Handle run-of-mine basalt up to 750 mm without secondary blasting
Output 5 aggregate grades: 0–5 mm, 5–10 mm, 10–20 mm, 20–31.5 mm, and sand-sized filler
Nominal capacity 350–500 tph depending on product mix
Wear parts must survive abrasive basalt (Mohs 6–7) for ≥ 6 months
Modular design to fit a sloped quarry site
Process Flow & Equipment
The line uses a classic three-stage crushing circuit: jaw crusher for primary reduction, single-cylinder hydraulic cone crusher for secondary, and a multi-deck vibrating screen for sizing.
| Stage | Equipment | Function |
|---|---|---|
| Primary | PE jaw crusher | Crushes 750 mm ROM down to ~200 mm |
| Secondary | Single-cylinder hydraulic cone crusher | Reduces to 0–50 mm with high cubicity |
| Tertiary / sizing | Vibrating screens (multi-deck) | Split into 5 aggregate grades |
| Conveying | Rubber belt conveyors, covered where required | Transport between stages and to product stockpiles |
| Dust control | Spray bars + bag filter at transfer points | Controls silica dust at screens and transfer points |
Why a single-cylinder cone crusher for basalt: Basalt is hard and abrasive. The single-cylinder hydraulic cone gives a high reduction ratio, excellent cubic-shaped product (critical for concrete), and easy over-tramp release to protect the mantle when uncrushable material enters.
Project Delivery
The EPC scope covered process design, steel structure, electrical, manufacturing, sea freight to Manila, on-site installation supervision, and commissioning. Modular skids allowed the customer to assemble the plant on a sloped quarry site without major earthworks.
Handover date: July 28, 2015.
Results
Capacity: Sustained 350–500 tph depending on product mix
Product shape: Cubicity index above 90% for the 10–20 mm and 20–31.5 mm grades, accepted by high-speed rail projects
Wear life: Mantle and concave life of 6–8 months on abrasive basalt, meeting the customer's target
Expansion: The customer added a secondary cone crusher and extra screen two years later to feed a new concrete batching plant
Customer Feedback
"Zhengzhou Sinoma designed a robust line that handles our toughest basalt without choking. The cubicity of the 10–20 mm aggregate is what sells our rail customers. Their engineer supported us through two expansions, and wear parts have always arrived when we needed them."
